ABOUT ME
Megan B. C. Smith, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I changed careers and became a psychologist after discovering how psychotherapy is based on insightful research and how therapists translate that research into helping people experience transformative change through a trusted, professional relationship. I continue to do this work because it is a true privilege to work with clients to help them to experience greater relief, joy, and satisfaction through the process of psychotherapy.
MY APPROACH
Let’s Do This Together
I applaud you for taking action to pursue change for you, your relationships, and your life. My approach to therapy is centered on forming a shared partnership with clients. It is important for me to understand each client’s background and objectives and to help each person to achieve their goals through a personalized, evidence-based approach, which honors their values and what is most important to them.
Successful clients are equally invested in their therapy and feel like they can trust and work with their therapist at some level from the beginning. Because your well-being is important to me, I want you to find a therapist who is a good fit for you. I provide a free telephone consultation to help you make this important decision.
We experience relief and connection when we share the parts of ourselves that we typically work hard to hide and continue to be valued and accepted.
WHO I WORK WITH
Determining If I’m the Right Therapist for You
I primarily provide individual psychotherapy to emerging adults, adults, and older adults. My specialties include trauma recovery, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, and emotion dysregulation, but my practice extends beyond these areas of specialized training and experience. I also help people with their relationships, careers, and transitions. Working on these different areas often includes guiding clients through deepening their connection with their own internal world of thoughts and feelings and with their connection to their external world of family, friends, partners, co-workers, and circumstances in their lives.
